ResearchGate and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences have established a Journal Home partnership aimed at expanding the digital distribution, readership, and visibility of content published in PNAS. Under the agreement, research articles from the peer-reviewed journal will be made accessible through ResearchGate’s platform, which serves a user base of more than 25 million registered researchers.
PNAS functions as the official journal of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, publishing original research across biological, physical, and social sciences. With this addition, PNAS joins its open-access sister publication, PNAS Nexus, on the ResearchGate platform, bringing the complete National Academy of Sciences research journal portfolio onto the network.
The collaboration integrates PNAS content directly into author profiles and dedicated journal pages on ResearchGate. The arrangement is designed to automate content distribution, streamline access to the more than 3,500 articles PNAS publishes annually, and provide authors with usage metrics regarding article reads, citations, and reader demographics.
Diane M. Sullenberger, publisher of PNAS, stated that the Journal Home agreement offers the journal an avenue to expand the international reach and readership of its multidisciplinary research. She noted that facilitating discovery and engagement with PNAS articles helps authors connect their findings with researchers who can build upon the work.
Robyn Mugridge, Head of Partnership Development at ResearchGate, remarked that the agreement delivers a widely cited multidisciplinary journal directly to ResearchGate’s user network. She added that the arrangement provides new access points for researchers to interact with PNAS content while extending the publication's reach to potential international authors.
