MDPI and Research Solutions have announced a collaboration to make MDPI's open access journal content discoverable through Scite and the Scite MCP, a platform that connects scholarly content with AI-powered research tools.
Under the agreement, MDPI's journal portfolio has been indexed in Scite, enabling researchers to access and discover content through AI environments such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and other MCP-compatible tools. The collaboration also provides article attribution, links to the official version of record, and article-level usage analytics.
The partnership comes as more researchers begin using AI assistants for literature discovery. According to the companies, the integration aims to address challenges related to attribution, source verification, and publisher visibility into how research content is used within AI-generated responses.
MDPI stated that making its content available through Scite and the Scite MCP helps ensure AI-generated responses are supported by published scholarly research, while providing direct access to authoritative article versions and citation context.
Under the collaboration, MDPI content will be enriched with Scite's Smart Citations technology, which provides citation context and indicates how research findings have been discussed in subsequent literature. Content delivered through the platform is linked to verified article text to support accurate representation and reduce the risk of misattributed information.
The agreement also introduces article-level analytics that allow publishers to track content access across organizations and AI platforms. Research Solutions noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve the discoverability and attribution of scholarly content as research workflows increasingly shift toward AI-assisted environments.
MDPI's publication portfolio is now fully indexed and available through the Scite platform and its AI discovery infrastructure.
