APA and National Register announce publishing partnership for Journal of Health Service Psychology -

The American Psychological Association (APA), through its publishing division, has entered into an agreement with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists to publish the Journal of Health Service Psychology (JHSP), the National Register’s official journal. Beginning in 2027, the journal will be included in the APA PsycArticles database, with new issues published by APA Journals.

Rose Sokol, PhD, deputy chief publishing officer and head of editorial and production at APA, noted that the partnership aligns with the organizations’ shared focus on supporting health service psychologists. She explained that the collaboration would support the publication of scholarly research for practitioners and students in the field.

APA publishes 90 peer-reviewed journals covering a broad range of psychology disciplines. Many of these publications are produced in collaboration with APA specialty divisions and national and international societies, reaching readers worldwide.

The Journal of Health Service Psychology is a peer-reviewed clinical journal that provides practical guidance for health service psychologists and behavioral health practitioners. Its articles address current clinical issues and practice challenges across mental and physical health, with particular attention to integrated care delivery.

Andrew Boucher, chief executive officer of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists, stated that the agreement represents a development in the journal’s publishing arrangements. He explained that inclusion in the APA PsycArticles database is intended to broaden access to the journal’s practice-focused content among health service psychologists, supporting the National Register’s mission of advancing excellence in psychological practice.
