EBSCO expands Springer Nature e-book purchasing access through GOBI -

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has expanded its partnership with Springer Nature, providing libraries with additional options for acquiring and accessing scholarly e-books. Through GOBI Library Solutions (GOBI), libraries can now purchase individual Springer Nature e-book titles and provide users with direct access through the Springer Nature Link platform.

The expanded arrangement combines GOBI’s acquisition and collection management workflows with Springer Nature’s scholarly e-book portfolio, enabling libraries to build and manage digital collections with greater flexibility. The option is intended to support the evolving research, teaching, and learning needs of library communities.

According to Jon Elwell, Senior Vice President of Books at EBSCO Information Services, the initiative responds to libraries’ need for greater flexibility in digital collection development. He noted that making individual Springer Nature titles available through GOBI, with perpetual access and unlimited-user availability on Springer Nature Link, provides libraries with an additional option for achieving their collection development objectives.

Bianca Herzing, Global Director of Sales at Springer Nature, noted that the libraries play a key role in connecting researchers and students with reliable scholarly resources. She stated that offering individual Springer Nature e-books through GOBI Library Solutions supports libraries in developing digital collections while providing researchers, educators, and students with access to content through Springer Nature Link.

The new offering allows libraries to purchase individual Springer Nature e-books through GOBI while maintaining direct access via the publisher’s platform.
