Academic publisher Emerald Publishing has signed a three-year agreement with the Turkish Academic Network and Information Centre (ULAKBIM) – a division of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) - to provide 190 academic institutions in Turkey and North Cyprus with access to Emerald's eJournal Premier Collection.
ULAKBIM was founded as a research and development institute of TUBITAK in 1996, with its main objective to operate a high speed computer network, enabling interaction within the institutional elements of the national innovation system, and providing information technology support and information services to help scientific production.
In addition to operating ULAKNET National Educational and Research Network, ULAKBIM provides services such as TRUBA high performance computing, TR-Index Turkish index of academic journals, JournalPark (an open journal system based academic journal hosting service), and TÜBİTAK EKUAL.
TÜBİTAK EKUAL (National Academic License for Electronic Resources) provides electronic information services, enabling research institutions in Turkey efficient and widespread access to electronic information resources of academic interest.
Emerald's eJournal Premier collection is its most comprehensive, cross-disciplinary journal database, featuring the latest peer-reviewed, international research in both established and emerging areas of interest.
Designed as Emerald's most unified offering, eJournal's Premier combines the Management Database and Specialist Collections, providing academics with access to the full breadth of Emerald's high quality publishing from leading researchers around the world.
National license agreements are made with the most prominent publishers and database producers of the world within the scope of TÜBİTAK EKUAL Project, with the aim of encouraging a broader use of high quality academic information, thus promoting scientific research and publication at national and international level.
