AIChE acquires ACS's ownership interest in Biotechnology Progress -

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has announced that it has agreed to acquire the American Chemical Society's (ACS) 50 percent ownership interest in the journal, Biotechnology Progress. In taking full ownership of the journal, which it founded in 1985, AIChE will end its co-publishing arrangement with ACS and partner with Wiley-Blackwell, the STM and scholarly publishing business of John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

AIChE will retain ownership and editorial control of the publication, which will also become the official publication of AIChE's Society for Biological Engineering. Wiley-Blackwell will provide all publishing services, effective with Volume 24, Issue 4 (July/August 2008) for Biotechnology Progress, including offering the online edition through its online publishing platform, Wiley InterScience. Also, Wiley will complete the digitisation project of the journal's archive.

Since 2004, Wiley has been publishing AIChE publications such as the AIChE Journal, Environmental Progress, and Process Safety Progress as well as a portfolio of the AIChE's books.
