Allina Health opts for Thomson Reuters’ Micromedex drug information system -

Business information provider Thomson Reuters, US, has announced that the Allina Health System, a not-for-profit network of hospitals, clinics and other healthcare services, has selected Micromedex as its drug information vendor. The decision reportedly came after a month-long rigorous evaluation of drug information systems, in which Thomson’s Micromedex was rated higher than any other competitor.

The four-year agreement provides Allina Health clinicians with point-of-care access to evidence-based clinical information through Micromedex.

In addition to web-based access with Micromedex 2.0, and tailored integration with most hospital information systems, Micromedex has been optimised to work with the Safari and Opera Mini browsers. This is for use with BlackBerry smartphones, Android-based phones, or any device with 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity. To date, more than a quarter million clinicians have downloaded the Micromedex Dug Information Application to their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, according to Thomson.
