AMA to publish and distribute Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness journal -

The American Medical Association (AMA) has announced that it is the exclusive publisher and distributor of the AMA’s Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness journal, formerly published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins. The journal’s website will remain the same, but a more sophisticated platform is being developed to help improve visibility and engagement with the medical and public health community.

Current features on the AMA’s Disaster Medicine and Public Health journal’s website include open access to relevant articles and a Webinar for Haiti earthquake response volunteers. The journal will continue to publish ahead of print important studies that can help emergency response healthcare professionals. Ongoing website enhancements include continuous updates from the field about emerging health needs. Continuing medical education (CME) credits will also be available online.

Indexed in MedLine, the AMA’s Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness was created to promote public health preparedness and the science of disaster medicine. It claims to be the first comprehensive and authoritative journal emphasising public health preparedness and disaster response for all healthcare and public health professionals globally.
