Scholarly publishing company HighWire Press and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) have announced the re-launch of ACC's journal program on a tailor-built version of HighWire's industry leading platform solution, JCore. The new ACC publishing platform allows readers around the world and ACC's 52,000 member physicians, surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists and practice managers to find the content they need quickly, read it comfortably on nearly any device, and share content of interest with their colleagues.
ACC and HighWire worked closely to adapt the JCore platform interface to meet ACC's specific publication program requirements. The result is a unique site design that presents a consistent and streamlined user experience for the entire journals program. Five established ACC journals, including the number one cardiovascular journal, JACC, are now migrated to the new, bespoke HighWire JCore platform. ACC's latest publication, Basic to Translational Science, an OA journal first launched in August 2016 on a standard HighWire JCore offering, is now also on ACC's customised interface.
With this unique JCore implementation, the user interface is designed to deliver content in as few clicks as possible. ACC publishing staff have configured their websites specifically in support of the society's goals. JCore's open architecture will allow the ACC to continuously respond and adapt to new business needs quickly. For instance, ACC and HighWire plan to launch single sign-on for members and a streamlined approach to individual article purchases from the subscription-based journals using HighWire's e-commerce capability.
