The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced that it is now the publisher of Traumatology: An International Journal (eISSN 1085-9373), and has just released the first issue of the journal’s 20th volume.
Published as an online-only journal on a quarterly basis, Traumatology: An International Journal is a primary reference for professionals all over the world who study and treat people exposed to highly stressful and traumatic events, such as terrorist bombings, war disasters, fires, accidents, criminal and familial abuse, hostage-taking, hospitalisation, major illness, abandonment, and sudden unemployment. The journal is of interest to psychologists, medical or nursing professionals, social workers, and other disaster/trauma professionals who seek to better understand how to work with disaster victims and their families, as well as other caregivers.
Each unique issue of the journal offers original articles, reviews, field reports, brief reports, commentary, and media reviews on trauma research, treatment, prevention, education, and training. In addition, issues of medical, legal, policy, and theoretical concerns are included.
Traumatology: An International Journal is the official journal of the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology, an international, humanitarian assistance organization and non-profit corporation that is composed of trained traumatologists and compassion fatigue service providers. Most are licensed mental health professionals, and all are oriented to helping people in crisis following traumatic events.
