The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced the integration of a new Retraction and Errata Feature within its flagship research database, APA PsycInfo. This feature, made possible through collaboration with GetFTR, enhances the transparency and integrity of scholarly research by allowing users to easily identify retracted articles and publications with errata directly within their searches, topic feeds, and individual article records.
Launched by GetFTR last year, the Retraction and Errata enhancement aims to ensure that researchers can quickly access updates on scholarly content as they discover it. By leveraging trusted sources such as Crossref and Retraction Watch, this feature makes it possible for articles marked with retractions or errata to be clearly flagged, even if researchers do not have full-text access to the content. This ensures that scholars and practitioners stay informed about corrections or retractions in their field, promoting greater trust and credibility in academic work.
Key Features of the Retraction and Errata Enhancement in APA PsycInfo include:
• Comprehensive Integration: The retraction and errata information is seamlessly integrated across all sections of APA PsycInfo, including topic feeds, browsing, and search results, making it easy for users to spot and access critical updates.
• Accessibility: Updates are visible to all users, regardless of whether they have access to the full-text content, ensuring that this crucial information reaches a broad audience.
• Community Commitment: This integration underscores APA’s ongoing commitment to fostering research integrity, transparency, and trust within the scholarly community.
The Retraction and Errata feature is also available to all GetFTR integrators, including discovery tools, scholarly collaboration networks, reference managers, and publishers who have implemented GetFTR in their reference systems. This broad accessibility helps maintain high standards of research integrity across the scholarly community.
With this enhancement, APA PsycInfo continues to lead the way in ensuring that researchers have access to reliable and accurate information, empowering them to make informed decisions and uphold the credibility of their work.
