Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals has announced an agreement with medial publisher The BMJ Group to develop mobile health applications for patients and continuous medical education (CME) for doctors and other healthcare professionals. The BMJ Group is the media arm of the British Medical Association.
The first phase the partnership would reportedly provide 'Indianised' content from the BMJ database to doctors through different delivery mechanisms, including the mobile platform, by January 2011.
According to Dr Prathap C Reddy, chairman of the Apollo Group, The information, which will also be translated into other Indian languages, will be available to patients through mobile phone and other mechanisms, including web access and patient leaflets. The two groups have also announced as an ongoing collaboration on technologies, applications, services and the development of joint products in the healthcare sector.
