Aries Systems sponsors OASPA’s OA Switchboard initiative -

Aries Systems Corporation, a leading technology workflow solutions supplier to the scholarly publishing community, has announced its sponsorship of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association’s (OASPA) OA Switchboard initiative. The OA Switchboard strives to enable the seamless sending and receiving of messages relating to the publication of open access research outputs for participating publishers, academic institutions and research funding organisations.

The OA Switchboard is a not-for-profit, industry-wide collaboration that aims to serve as an intermediary between the complexities of multi-lateral Open Access publication-level arrangements by functioning as a central information exchange hub. The OA Switchboard team is currently working on a pilot integration that leverages Aries’ web services API to allow funding information within Editorial Manager® (EM) to be easily communicated between publishers and other stakeholders. The web services API enables scholarly journals using EM to identify specific workflow points in which messages containing submission metadata can be exchanged with third-party systems. By pairing the API with the OA Switchboard platform, Authors, funders and publishers can connect to track key funding data and streamline communications.

The Microbiology Society will be among the first to pilot the Aries API and OA Switchboard integration through one of their EM journal sites. Aries Systems has donated over $20,000 to OASPA in support of the OA Switchboard initiative.
