Reprints Desk, Inc., a subsidiary of Research Solutions, Inc., has become a reseller of OpenAthens from Eduserv. The deal expands the company's robust suite of authentication solutions for accessing databases, articles in journal subscriptions, and other copyrighted content.
Reprints Desk will integrate and introduce OpenAthens' federated access management system, featuring a single username and password to its growing base of Article Galaxy customers comprising life science companies, academic institutions, and other research-intensive organisations that rely on the company's award-winning journal content access and management solutions.
Consumers of scientific, technical and medical content seek seamless access to library resources anytime, anywhere, and on any device. However, because STM content is typically under strict copyright control and made available via databases and subscription services, access is necessarily controlled, meaning users must be authorised. Organisations often resort to IP-based authentication, but widely acknowledged shortcomings can preclude optimal cost management and usage tracking.
