ASTM International and the Institut Algérien de Normalisation (IANOR) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU seeks to strengthen the relationship between ASTM and IANOR, support the needs of the Algerian people, continue growth of the economy, and aid in the development of Algerian national standards for health, safety, and the environment.
The MoU was signed by Katharine Morgan, president, ASTM International, and Djamal Hales, director general, IANOR, and brings the total number of ASTM International MoUs to 115.
ASTM International and IANOR have agreed to the MoU with the following goals in mind: promote communication between the two organisations; avoid duplication of work efforts where possible; promote knowledge of the standards development activities of each organisation; utilise the resources of ASTM International to strengthen the IANOR standards system; promote greater IANOR input and content into ASTM International standard through greater IANOR participation in the ASTM International standards development process; and promote the IANOR acceptance and use of ASTM International standards.
ASTM International’s MOU program was launched in 2001. MoUs are designed to encourage the participation of technical experts from around the world in the ASTM standards development process and broaden the global acceptance and use of ASTM International standards.
