ASTM International joins NFAIS as a new member -

The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAISTM), a global non-profit membership organisation serving the information services community, has announced that ASTM International has joined NFAIS as a new member.

ASTM International, based in West Conshohocken, PA, is one of the largest voluntary standards developing organisations in the world. ASTM International is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for the development and publication of international voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services.

ASTM International's volunteer members represent producers, users, consumers, government, and academia from more than 140 countries. The organisation develops technical documents that are often used as the basis of manufacturing, management, procurement, codes and regulations for dozens of industry sectors.

ASTM volunteer members belong to one or more standards-writing committees, each of which covers a subject area such as steel, petroleum, medical devices, consumer products, nanotechnology, additive manufacturing and many more. These committees develop more than 12,000 ASTM standards found on its website and in the 80-volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards.

Defined and set by ASTM International, more than 12,000 ASTM standards operate globally. Working across borders, disciplines and industries, ASTM International harnesses the expertise of over 30,000 members to create consensus and improve performance in manufacturing and materials, products and processes, systems and services.
