AUPresses supports Anti-Censorship Declaration to protect research freedom -

The Association of University Presses (AUPresses), a global network of mission-driven publishers, has signed the Declaration to Defend Research Against US Government Censorship. This declaration, supported by a coalition of scholars and institutions, asserts the critical need for researchers to freely conduct, collaborate on, share, and discuss their research without interference.

AUPresses joins others in the scholarly communications community to express concern that recent US government actions threatening research freedom could hinder not only US-based researchers but global academic progress. The proposed restrictions, they argue, undermine the integrity and productivity of scholarly work, with potentially harmful consequences for both the short and long term.

The declaration, authored by leading thought leaders in scholarly communications, including Lisa Schiff and Peter Suber, calls on concerned parties—researchers, policymakers, and educational institutions—to stand in support of open research practices. AUPresses encourages those committed to academic freedom and research integrity to sign the declaration and lend their voices to the cause.
