Australian state library opts for Ex Libris discovery and delivery interface -

Library solutions provider Ex Libris (Australia) has announced that the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) has chosen to implement the company's Primo discovery and delivery solution. The product is projected to serve as an easy-to-use, single-search interface for widely sharing SLQ's print, digital, audio, film and licensed e-resources collections.

According to the company, Primo will enable SLQ to provide improved access to millions of items in its extensive collection, ranging from books and manuscripts to music scores, films and pictures. SLQ clients had sought a simpler and user-friendly solution to access the vast array of the library's online resources. Through a single interface clients can now comment on, tag and review these items. SLQ will also be implementing other Ex Libris products such as the SFX OpenURL link server, MetaLib gateway and metasearch portal, and DigiTool digital asset management system.

Primo is claimed to be a one-stop solution for the discovery and delivery of local and remote resources, such as books, journal articles and digital objects. It assists libraries in fully utilising their collections and offering users an up-to-date discovery and delivery experience. Primo services can be embedded in commonly used applications such as course management systems and institutional portals, helping library serve users wherever they are.
