Article evaluation services provider Faculty of 1000 (F1000), UK, has announced that the Biochemical Society, including its wholly owned publishing subsidiary Portland Press Limited, has become the latest organisation to join the growing F1000 Affiliate Program.
As an F1000 Affiliate Publisher, Portland Press will offer its readers free access to a selection of F1000 evaluations of articles appearing in their journals. The Portland Press journals covered by this agreement are: ASN NEURO; Biochemical Journal; Biology of the Cell; Bioscience Reports; Cell Biology International; Cell Biology International Reports; and Clinical Science.
In a related announcement, F1000 has finalised an agreement to work with the Biochemical Society to provide the scientific community with ongoing free access to posters presented at Biochemical Society meetings, including their Annual Symposium and Harden Conferences.
This will be provided through F1000 Posters, the new open access repository of posters from across biology and medicine. Posters deposited with F1000 Posters will be reviewed by F1000's Faculty who will select posters that they consider to be particularly interesting and important and write evaluations for inclusion in the award-winning F1000 evaluation service.
F1000 is an online service that ranks the top 2 percent of biomedical articles across an array of specialist fields. Articles are selected by the 10,000 experts in the international F1000 Faculty, who have been nominated by their peers as highly respected in their chosen fields. The Faculty uses a unique rating system to identify the highest quality papers and explain why they are important.
Existing affiliates in the F1000 Affiliate Program include the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), The Royal Society and The Physiological Society.
