Biomaterials Science to become official journal of European Society for Biomaterials in new partnership -

The Royal Society of Chemistry has partnered with the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB) in a collaboration that will see Biomaterials Science become the official journal of ESB. The agreement is set to come into effect on January 1, 2018.

The European Society for Biomaterials was founded in 1976 and is particularly well-known for its annual meeting - the largest biomaterials meeting in Europe - and its support for early career scientists through its Young Scientists Forum (YSF).

Under this partnership both parties will promote the continued success of Biomaterials Science and will collaborate on educational activities through the YSF, including provision of a dedicated session in the programme of the annual ESB meeting. An annual collection of selected contributions from the meeting will also be published in Biomaterials Science. RSC will retain the full ownership and editorial control of the journal.

RSC published the first volume of Biomaterials Science in 2013. Since then, the journal has been making strong progress, seeing its impact factor jump from 3.614 to 4.210 in 2017.
