Open access publisher BioMed Central has announced that it is expanding collaboration with Peerage of Science, an innovative independent submission and peer review service.
Four more journals join the list of four previously listed BioMed Central destinations, becoming available for authors directly inside the Peerage of Science peer review system. Furthermore, the editors also gain full access to all ongoing peer review processes, and are able to pro-actively invite submissions of suitable uncommitted manuscripts; in Peerage of Science a manuscript is not exclusive to any single journal until authors choose to commit it to one destination, which typically happens after the peer review.
Peerage of Science is an independent scientific submission and peer review service, introducing several innovative practices to the academic publishing process. Among the core solutions are Open Engagement of peer reviewers by their own choice, Cross-Evaluation of peer reviews by other peers, and Concurrent Consideration of a single peer review process by participating journals.
Peerage of Science is free for scientists, and offers compelling new solutions to academic publishers and other organisations that need high-quality peer review for their operations. The Select -service allowing editorial access into the system currently includes 37 journal destinations, while The Connect -service allows authors to export their work exclusively to over 3000 destinations. Peerage of Science is supported by University of Jyväskylä, University of Eastern Finland, and University of Turku.
