Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced that two of its journals - Harm Reduction Journal and International Journal for Equity in Health - have been accepted for inclusion by Thomson Reuters. These journals are due to receive their first impact factors in June 2011.
A peer-reviewed online journal Harm Reduction Journal focuses on the prevalent patterns of psychoactive drug use, the public policies meant to control them, and the search for effective methods of reducing the adverse medical, public health, and social consequences associated with both drugs and drug policies. It provides full access to the large body of factual reports and policy documents published by governments and by the growing international network of harm reduction organisations. The journal has an unofficial 2008 impact factor of 1.68.
International Journal for Equity in Health presents evidence relevant to the search for, and attainment of, equity in health across and within countries. It aims to improve the understanding of issues that influence the health of populations. The journal has an unofficial impact factor of 1.24.
Both journals have also been accepted for coverage in Current Contents.
