Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced a partnership with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to develop the UK Clinical Trials Gateway (UKCTG). Members of the public and health professionals will now be able to gain more information about clinical trials running in the UK.
BioMed Central, which also operates the ISRCTN clinical trial register, will keep on working with the Department of Health, the NIHR and other UK health services organisations and charities to ensure that the trial information on the UKCTG website is user-friendly and easy to understand. It is expected that the UKCTG initiative will help the Government to meet its commitment to ensure patients are aware of the latest trials taking place that may be relevant to them.
The website is being run by the National Institute for Health Research on behalf of all the UK Health Departments. Clinical research charities, research professionals and patient representatives are also participating in the development of the UKCTG.
