Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has announced the availability of BMJ Best Practice and BMJ Learning to all NHS Wales staff. This follows an expansion of the NHS Wales e-Library for Health which is managed by NHS Wales Informatics Service.
BMJ Best Practice is a clinical decision support tool that gives healthcare professionals fast and easy access to the latest information when making diagnosis and treatment decisions. It has links to UK clinical information sources such as NICE, British National Formulary (BNF), British National Formulary for Children (BNFC) and Cochrane Clinical Answers to support evidence-based decision making.
BMJ Best Practice is accessible online or remotely via an award-winning app, providing crucial offline access for community-based professionals.
BMJ Learning provides online CME and postgraduate training to support healthcare professionals improve their knowledge and deliver the very best care to their patients. Its interactive platform provides hundreds of patient-centred, case-based learning modules, covering non-clinical and clinical topics in more than 70 specialty areas.
These BMJ resources will be available to all NHS Wales staff instantly from within the NHS Wales network through the e-Library intranet site and via OpenAthens from home or public Wi-Fi via the e-Library internet site.
The e-Library is aimed at supporting effective healthcare delivery by providing evidence-based, relevant and timely information to support NHS Wales. It is accessible by all 92,000+ NHS Wales staff, contract holders, including community pharmacists, dentists and hospice workers; students on placement and departments of Welsh Government.
BMJ Best Practice and BMJ Learning will be provided in addition to existing resources such as The BMJ, BMJ Journals Collection, BMJ Case Reports, European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy and BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care to ensure that healthcare professionals in Wales have access to the latest clinical information.
