BMJ Group, Isabel Healthcare to integrate clinical decision support products -

Medical information provider BMJ Group, UK, has announced an international partnership with diagnostics firm Isabel Healthcare, US, to offer a fully integrated version of their decision support products. Under the agreement, the ability of Isabel to produce a differential list using multiple patient specific clinical features will be merged with Best Practice's knowledge base to create an enhanced clinical experience for users. Best Practice is a point-of-care clinical information product from BMJ.

The newly integrated product is projected to enable front line clinicians to mobilise the extensive knowledge base of Best Practice around a patients' clinical features using Isabel's functionality. This is seen to support better, more personalised decisions and improve the quality of care. It is expected that information will be modelled around the patient's clinical features, offering clinicians an immediate head-start in diagnosis and treatment.

The new Isabel/Best Practice solution will be released in the third quarter of 2011. Its complete functionality will also be unveiled then. Isabel Healthcare provides a web-based application called Isabel. For a given set of signs and symptoms, Isabel presents the clinician with a list of likely diagnoses to consider, and each diagnosis is linked to knowledge to help with further investigation and management.
