The British Library is improving the performance of its online catalogue with Syndetics Unbound™, a ProQuest enrichment service that helps libraries create an interactive search experience for their users.
With more than 150 million items in its catalogue - including books, magazines, newspapers, patents, electronic files and more - the British Library is one of the world's largest libraries, housing copies of all publications produced in the U.K. and Ireland.
Now, when patrons search the British Library's main catalogue enhanced with Syndetics Unbound data, they will see rich, dynamic information that helps them not only choose the right book, but also find related titles and materials in the library through recommendations, reviews, tags and more.
All Syndetics Unbound data is derived from Bowker, the world's leading authority for bibliographic and publisher information, and LibraryThing, which provides high-quality, professionally vetted social and recommendations data. In total, 16 interactive elements are available from Syndetics Unbound, any of which can be turned on or off by library administrators.
