Kaplan International Colleges and Cambridge University Press, the publishing division of the University of Cambridge, have signed a five-year agreement to collaborate on developing learning and teaching materials for students and lecturers of English for Academic Purposes.
With material developed by Kaplan, Cambridge University Press will publish six academic language and skills texts developed specifically for task-based classroom use - three levels of Language for Study and three levels of Skills for Study. Fully integrated supplementary e-materials will provide highly subject-specific support.
Relying heavily on task-based learning, this series will offer much more than the reference material that has typified English for Academic Purposes teaching to date. The texts will prepare international students with the skills they need to be successful at university, containing academic grammar to help with, for instance, reading academic texts, referencing correctly, writing literature reviews and lab reports, and developing critical thinking along the way.
Extensive sections on phonology will help students understand what they hear, and speak more fluently and accurately when delivering presentations or participating in academic seminars.
Kaplan International Colleges, part of Kaplan, Inc., provide academic programmes that prepare international students for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK, US and Australia. The programmes give students a solid academic foundation in their chosen area combined with intensive English language preparation and academic study skills. Kaplan International Colleges has partnerships with the University of Sheffield, Nottingham Trent University, the University of Glasgow, the University of Liverpool, the University of Southampton, City University London and University of Westminster.
