Canadian Science Publishing acquires Journal of Psychiatry and Neuroscience -

Canadian Science Publishing (CSP), an independent not-for-profit publisher renowned for its excellence in scientific journal publishing, has acquired the Journal of Psychiatry and Neuroscience (JPN) from CMA Impact Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Canadian Medical Association. This transaction, effective September 2, 2025, adds a prominent psychiatric and neuroscientific journal to the CSP portfolio.

The journal, which focuses on advancing the understanding of neural mechanisms underlying the onset and treatment of psychiatric disorders, becomes the twenty-third title under CSP's umbrella. Its existing portfolio already encompasses some of Canada’s most respected peer-reviewed journals spanning engineering, life sciences, natural sciences, and physical sciences.

CSP’s editorial director for life and agricultural sciences expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting JPN’s unique interdisciplinary focus and the opportunity to engage a new research community. CSP confirmed that JPN’s existing editorial board will continue in place, retaining full authority over content and editorial decisions.

CMA Impact’s publisher noted confidence in CSP’s community-oriented approach and commitment to high-quality science, indicating expectations that JPN will flourish in its new environment. CSP anticipates supporting the journal’s ongoing impact and will share updates as transition preparations advance ahead of the September 2025 handover.
