Canadian Science Publishing (CSP) and the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) are deepening their collaborative efforts to further promote Canadian research on a global scale. Building on their successful partnership in publishing the multidisciplinary, open-access journal FACETS, the two organizations are expanding their focus to include contributions from the social sciences and are establishing a dedicated board of RSC peer reviewers.
As leading not-for-profit entities, both CSP and RSC share a commitment to advancing Canadian research and fostering an open science future. This expanded partnership aims to bring greater interdisciplinary engagement and enhance the dissemination of research that addresses critical issues for Canadians and the international community.
Key initiatives of the expanded partnership include:
• Interdisciplinary Focus: FACETS will collaborate with the Social Science and Science Academies of the RSC to identify key interdisciplinary topics that are relevant both to Canadians and the global community. Researchers will be invited to contribute to these areas, broadening the journal's scope and impact.
• Editorial Support: To support this expansion, CSP and RSC will continue to recruit experienced journal editors from within the RSC and the broader scholarly community. These editors will play a crucial role in guiding the journal’s new focus and ensuring the highest standards of academic rigor.
• Open Access Funding: Recognizing the financial barriers some authors face in open-access publishing, CSP and RSC are committed to exploring sustainable funding models. This effort aims to make open-access publishing more accessible to a diverse range of researchers, ensuring that important findings can reach the widest possible audience without financial constraints.
This expanded collaboration between CSP and RSC marks a significant step forward in promoting Canadian research across multiple disciplines and underscores the organizations' dedication to supporting an inclusive, open-access publishing environment. Through these initiatives, CSP and RSC will continue to elevate the visibility and impact of Canadian research on the global stage, fostering a vibrant and diverse academic community.
As the partnership evolves, CSP and RSC remain focused on supporting Canadian researchers and contributing to the advancement of knowledge across disciplines, reinforcing their roles as key players in the global research landscape.
