CCC panel to examine themes in AI copyright litigation -

Copyright Clearance Center will host a free virtual town hall about AI & Copyright: Recent Litigation Themes on September 16. The event, which will be streamed on LinkedIn Live, is designed for professionals in publishing, AI technology, and business. The discussion will cover how courts are addressing key issues like market harm, data sources, and guardrails, and the evolving legal theories around transformative use.

Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) is a global advocate for copyright, providing educational resources and thought leadership on the topic through its online hub, AI, Copyright & Licensing.

In recent years, the organization has launched new licensing solutions to address the growing use of content in AI systems.

In July 2024, CCC made AI rights available within its Annual Copyright License (ACL), an enterprise-wide solution that helps companies legally use copyrighted materials for their internal AI systems. This license offers a wide range of rights from different copyright holders and ensures they are compensated for this new use of their content.

In March 2025, CCC introduced a new AI systems training license for the external use of copyrighted works.

Since 1978, CCC has supported content users with a variety of licensing solutions, including the ACL for Business, Multinational Copyright License (MCL) for Business, ACL for Higher Education, ACL for Curriculum & Instruction and ACL for Student Assessments. In addition to these licenses, CCC also provides software that gives users one-stop access to request, receive, and pay for full-text content and permissions to reuse materials.
