Cengage has announced new AI‑enabled features across its Higher Education learning platforms, designed to strengthen student outcomes and provide instructors with deeper insights. The updates include Student Assistant and Instructor Assistant, now available across more than 800 Higher Education products. Research conducted by Cengage in 2026 indicated that 58% of instructors believe graduates are less prepared for work compared to a decade ago, citing declines in critical thinking and communication. More than half emphasized the need for instruction on responsible AI use.

Within MindTap^®, Cengage has introduced AI‑powered activities and literacy resources that allow students to apply concepts through discipline‑specific scenarios, video‑based assignments, and AI‑supported feedback. These experiences are designed to build communication, professionalism, and critical thinking skills while reinforcing responsible AI use.
