Cengage Group expands AI tools across education and workforce segments -

Cengage Group has announced an extensive rollout of its AI-powered learning tools across higher education, workforce training, and K–12 segments. The expansion brings personalized AI support to over one million students through more than 100 products in higher education and launches beta programs for AI tools in the workforce and K–12 education.

In higher education, the Cengage Student Assistant now provides 24/7 personalized learning help, integrating with course homepages, eBooks, and assignments. Enhancements include real-time analytics for instructors, AI-generated dashboards, and tools for adapting instruction based on student engagement. According to Cengage, student usage of the Assistant significantly exceeds engagement seen with other AI tutor tools.

Cengage Work is piloting a tailored AI-powered Learning Assistant within Advanced Career Training (ACT) courses. Embedded in the learning environment, the assistant answers questions and directs learners to additional support as needed. The pilot covers a third of ACT learners, many of whom are balancing full-time jobs with education. Initial feedback has been positive, with users describing it as providing instructor-level guidance.

In the K–12 segment, Cengage School is beta-testing the AI Leveler, a generative AI-powered tool, embedded within Gale In Context: For Educators. The tool helps teachers adjust content reading levels for students. A recent panel review showed that 94% rated the quality as good, with full support for classroom use.

Cengage reports that its AI developments are rooted in pedagogy and designed to complement—not replace—instruction. Recent internal research shows increasing interest among districts in generative AI tools, especially for supporting teachers.
