Teaching, learning and research solutions provider Cengage Learning, US, has announced increased commitment to The IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS). Building on a strong relationship with IMS, Cengage Learning has volunteered to provide leadership in furthering IMS standards in the critical area of Learning Outcomes. Cengage Learning will be adding more members to existing workgroups, and will be releasing more Common Cartridge courses following participation in conformance testing.
In addition to activity tied to the common cartridge process, Cengage Learning will be participating in panel presentations and will be serving as a moderator at the 2011 Learning Impact Conference in Long Beach, CA. Cengage Learning's Course360 Custom Course Solutions using IMS Common Cartridge were named as a finalist in the 2011 Learning Impact Awards, an awards programme facilitated by IMS to recognise outstanding applications of technology that address the most significant challenges facing the global education and training industries.
To satisfy growing customer demand, Cengage Learning has a developed a proven methodology to deliver its Course360 products via the Common Cartridge model. Courses have been tested through the IMS Common Cartridge validator and have received IMS- compliant certification. Cengage Learning is currently fulfilling customer course adoptions using Common Cartridge.
Furthermore, Cengage Learning will be adding a member to participate in the ongoing Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) working group. LTI aims to improve interaction between external tools/applications/systems, whether enterprise or web-based, and learning/course management systems.
