Publishing solutions provider The Charlesworth Group, UK, has announced that 14 international publishers will benefit from additional gross annual revenue worth over $1 million through deals negotiated by The Charlesworth Group in China. For the seventh consecutive year Charlesworth has successfully negotiated individual contracts between the publishers and the National Science and Technology Library (NSTL), a consortia headed by the Ministry of
Science and Technology. These agreements provide valuable new income from this emerging market, create strong online brand recognition and promote online usage of the subscribed content by the Chinese.
Working as local agents in China, Charlesworth expands the reach of society and university scholarly publishers by providing access to their online journal and database content to NSTL's end users, which total around 550 Chinese academic institutions, research institutes, and government departments.
In a similar move, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) announced a three-year contract with The Charlesworth Group and the National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) in March 2009. With this agreement, the Society seeks to increase international exposure to its journals Radiology and RadioGraphics.
