The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) has announced that CHEST® Critical Care, its open‑access journal dedicated to critical care medicine, has received its first Journal Impact Factor of 2.7. This marks a milestone in the journal’s growth and recognition within the scholarly publishing community.
The Journal Impact Factor, released annually by Clarivate in the Journal Citation Reports, measures the average number of citations received by articles published in a journal and is widely regarded as an indicator of scholarly influence.
Hayley Gershengorn, MD, FCCP, Editor in Chief of CHEST Critical Care, stated that the achievement reflects the contributions of authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and readers. She explained that the journal was established to accelerate the dissemination of high‑quality research in critical care and make it accessible to clinicians, researchers, and policymakers worldwide. She added that the recognition underscores the journal’s growing role in advancing knowledge in the field.
