Chinese scientific database added to WorldWideScience’s offering -

The WorldWideScience Alliance has announced that China has recently signed its charter. Following this, users of WorldWideScience.org can now obtain access to the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China's database.

In addition, users will now have access to the document server at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN); information from the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) database; and public health-related data from KoreaMed, a product similar to PubMed.

Using a federated search engine technology, WorldWideScience.org searches scientific and technical research and development data, including development data from close to 80 percent of the world's population-information. Prior to its availability from WWS, this data was not widely accessible through common search engines.

China is one of the leading publishers of scientific papers, with output that is new to many of the world's researchers. In November 2008, US-based search solutions provider Deep Web Technologies had announced the addition of essential Chinese research from the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China to WorldWideScience.org.
