CHOR and the Japan Science and Technology Agency sign six-month Pilot project to explore and support public access compliance needs -

CHOR, Inc. has signed a Letter of Agreement with the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), for a six-month Pilot project to explore and support its public access compliance needs. This is the organisation's first agreement with a funder outside of the US.

With public access still very much on the forefront, the Pilot is an example of how CHOR is engaging with funders around the world to develop sustainable solutions. CHOR and JST will work together to explore ways to improve the monitoring of public accessibility of content reporting on JST-funded research. This collaboration will seek to improve Japanese funder information in the Crossref Open Funder Registry, enable linking via metadata (based on Crossref funding data) from the Chiba University institutional repository to published articles reporting on JST-funded research on CHOR publisher members' sites, and develop a customised Dashboard and Search Portal (including ORCID IDs, links to datasets, and more).

CHOR will provide services free of charge to JST during the Pilot period. Pilot participants include Chiba University, one of the largest national universities in Japan, and a number of CHOR Publisher Members, including Association for Computing Machinery, American Physical Society, Elsevier, IEEE, Oxford University Press, and Wiley. All CHOR publisher members are welcome and encouraged to join the initiative; several more have already expressed interest and will be announced as they sign on.
