Coherent Digital and Jisc sign agreement for Policy Commons, Applied Science Commons, and Coherent Impact -

Coherent Digital has signed a new agreement with Jisc that provides UK higher education institutions with access to tens of millions of indexed grey literature outputs—materials typically not published in books or journals—on special terms.

The agreement covers three major resources:

• Applied Science Commons, which includes content from 13,000 organizations across allied health, corporations, technology companies, and foundations.

• Policy Commons, which provides access to more than 35 million items from 40,000 organizations such as think tanks, NGOs, IGOs, and research institutions.

• Coherent Impact, a service offering tools for analysis, reporting, and demonstration of influence, including citations, mentions, and related impact measures.

Through this agreement, Jisc members gain access to curated, indexed, and archived resources to support research, while Coherent Impact enables institutions to measure their global real‑world influence.

The agreement also introduces restructured pricing to support smaller institutions, reductions across most Jisc bands, refined pricing for bands 5A and 5B, and a three‑year special offer for the full Coherent Impact package, which includes all twelve modules of Policy Commons and Applied Science Commons.

Gareth Bish, Sales Director for Coherent Digital, stated that extending the agreement with Jisc allows cross‑disciplinary support for fields including humanities, social sciences, health, and science. He noted that the partnership supports comprehensive research, systematic literature reviews, and enables scholars to demonstrate broader real‑world impact, strengthening REF2029 submissions and advancing institutional ranking goals.

Anna Vernon, Head of Research Licensing at Jisc, explained that the collaboration is intended to help members and researchers track engagement, demonstrate impact, and align research activity with institutional and national priorities.
