OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, has finalised agreements with 17 publishers worldwide to add valuable electronic collections to the WorldCat database, the most comprehensive online catalogue of resources available through libraries worldwide.
Incorporating bibliographic data that link to these collections into WorldCat and the WorldCat knowledge base will reduce the cost of managing these resources and provide immediate access for libraries that subscribe to or want to purchase these collections.
The leading content providers with whom OCLC has recently signed agreements and whose collections will be added to WorldCat over the next few months include: American Mathematical Society; American Society for Microbiology; CRC Press; CSIRO Publishing; Digitalia; The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS); JSTOR; Knowledge Unlatched; Liverpool University Press (LUP); The Metropolitan Opera; Mintel Group Ltd; Morgan & Claypool Publishers LLC; Naxos of America, Inc.; NBC Learn; Publishers Row; Recorded Books, LLC; and Thieme Medical Publishers.
Both WorldCat and the WorldCat knowledge base continue to grow with new providers and collections.
