Digital course materials supplier CourseSmart LLC, US, has announced partnerships with publishers Elsevier Science and Technology, F.A. Davis, Jones & Bartlett, SAGE, Sinauer Associates, Taylor & Francis and Wolters Kluwer Health (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins). The partnerships are aimed at expanding the breadth and specialty of CourseSmart's higher education e-textbooks available to students and instructors across the country. With the addition of these publishers, CourseSmart now offers more than 7,000 e-textbooks, representing most of the higher education textbooks on the market. Existing publisher partners of the company include Pearson, Cengage Learning, McGraw-Hill Education, John Wiley & Sons and the Bedford Freeman, Worth Publishing Group.
CourseSmart's e-textbooks enable students to access their textbooks from anywhere, at any time, without purchasing additional hardware or a dedicated reading device. Features like adding notes, highlighting and maintaining print page numbers are seen to replicate the important functionality of a print textbook while features like search, and copy/paste leverage the digital format to improve teaching and learning.
According to the company, thousands of faculty members are currently using CourseSmart as a resource and evaluation tool, taking advantage of the time savings and digital efficiencies created by accessing and reviewing textbooks online. CourseSmart's digital library includes e-textbook imprints from the Academic Press, Addison-Wesley, Allyn & Bacon, Bedford/St. Martin's, Benjamin Cummings, Brooks/Cole, Butterworth-Heinemann, CL Engineering, CQ Press, CRC Press, Focal Press, Garland Science, Heinle, Longman, Merrill, Morgan Kaufmann, Nelson, Newnes, Pergamon Flexible Learning, Pine Forge Press, Prentice Hall, Psychology Press, Routledge, South Western, W.H. Freeman and Wadsworth.
