The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) has collaborated with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) to add 94 issues of Science Dimension to Canadiana, expanding access to historical scientific research in Canada. The newly digitized collection spans from the publication’s launch in 1969 to 1984, capturing research conducted by the NRC and scientists across the country.
Published in both English and French, Science Dimension serves as a valuable resource for those studying the history of science, health, and engineering in Canada. The magazine features vivid photographs, illustrations, and technical diagrams alongside articles chronicling innovations such as plant-based meat substitutes, machine translation, and the Canadarm.
This marks CRKN’s first digitization project in partnership with the NRC, which became an Associate Member of CRKN in 2024. The addition of Science Dimension enhances the range of historical scientific materials available on Canadiana, supporting researchers and science communicators in exploring Canada’s scientific advancements.
