Business information provider Thomson Reuters, US, has announced that the Crown Research Institutes of New Zealand (CRIs) have selected the Web of Knowledge platform to enhance the research and analytic capabilities of almost 3,000 researchers from six institutes. The renewal of the agreement represents a key step towards enhancing the national research environment to accelerate research and development, and drive New Zealand’s knowledge economy.
The six CRIs selected Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge to help New Zealand researchers identify the most influential literature in the sciences, social sciences and the arts and humanities from around the world. Web of Knowledge contains the world’s largest multidisciplinary citation databases, conference proceedings records and analysis tools from Web of Science.
The six CRIs are the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA), Landcare Research New Zealand Ltd (Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research), Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Limited (GNS Science), The New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Limited (Plant & Food Research), Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited (ESR) and New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited (Scion).
Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge provides access to the world’s largest citation databases, including Web of Science which covers over 100 years of research in more than 12,000 of the highest impact journals across multiple disciplines, and over 150,000 conference proceedings records from around the world. CRI members can find high-impact articles and proceedings and detect emerging research trends. Journal Citation Reports extends the capabilities of Web of Science to measure and evaluate journal impact and influence, thereby helping CRIs to understand a journal’s true place in the world of scholarly literature.
