The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Latindex have launched a 12-month partnership to improve the discoverability of Ibero-American journals, most of which are published in Spanish and Portuguese.
The collaboration has three goals: exchanging information on journals not yet indexed in either database, sharing information on evidence and methodologies for identifying journals with questionable practices, and co-organizing courses and workshops in Ibero-America on academic publishing standards.
Latindex is a regional system covering journals from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal, as well as Ibero-American content published elsewhere. Its services include a directory of nearly 30,000 journals, a catalog of about 3,800 titles that meet quality criteria, and an Article Finder for accessing articles and full-text documents.
DOAJ and Latindex aim to align indexing practices and expand visibility and discoverability and discoverability for Ibero-American scholarship. The partnership supports broader international access and contributes to the integrity and recognition of journals across the region.
