EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced a partnership with Perplexity to integrate content from EBSCOhost research databases into Perplexity’s Premium Sources. The collaboration enables users to access peer‑reviewed, full‑text journals directly within Perplexity’s answer engine and Perplexity Computer, which supports multi‑step research tasks.
The integration allows researchers, students, and knowledge workers to trace AI‑generated responses back to the original scholarly articles. All users will see references with links, while those with institutional EBSCOhost logins can access the full primary sources.
Sam Brooks, Executive Vice President at EBSCO Information Services, stated that AI has become a primary entry point for research, making reliable sources increasingly important. He explained that EBSCOhost serves as a “truth layer” built on curated, verifiable content, and described the partnership with Perplexity as a step toward ensuring AI platforms grow on a foundation of evidence.
EBSCOhost is used by more than 70,000 libraries, academic institutions, hospitals, and research organizations worldwide, covering nearly all disciplines. Its inclusion in Perplexity’s Premium Sources extends access to one of the fastest‑growing AI platforms, making scholarly research more discoverable at the point of inquiry.
Emily Jorgens, Head of Business Development and Partnerships at Perplexity, commented that the collaboration provides users with access to curated, peer‑reviewed scholarship trusted by academic researchers for decades. She emphasized that accuracy is central to Perplexity’s approach to AI, and the integration with EBSCOhost strengthens that foundation.
The partnership combines EBSCOhost, a leading academic research platform, with Perplexity, an AI company focused on accuracy, with the shared goal of making authoritative research more accessible and verifiable.
