The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) has announced that EBSCO Information Services has joined as its newest member. EBSCO provides libraries and research institutions worldwide with databases, library technology, e‑books, subscription management, book acquisition services, and discovery solutions. The company’s work connects publishers, libraries, and readers through content and technology designed to support research and access to information.
Since its origins as a subscription agency, EBSCO has expanded into a global provider of library and information services, continuing to invest in technologies and partnerships that strengthen libraries and meet the evolving needs of their communities.
Allison Belan, Executive Director of BISG, noted that libraries are a vital part of the book ecosystem and described EBSCO as a long‑standing partner to libraries worldwide. She explained that the company’s expertise in metadata, discovery, accessibility, and information services would add valuable perspective to BISG’s membership.
Jon Elwell, Senior Vice President of EBSCO Books, stated that the publishing industry benefits when stakeholders collaborate to address shared challenges, establish standards, and support the long‑term health of the scholarly ecosystem. He highlighted EBSCO’s role through services such as GOBI, EBSCO eBooks, and Mosaic, which connect publishers and libraries globally. Elwell added that joining BISG would allow EBSCO to contribute expertise and collaborate with industry leaders to advance standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
