Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO), a division of EBSCO Industries Inc., US, has announced the acquisition of NISC, Inc. for an undisclosed amount. As NISC provides refined subject area databases, EBSCO expects the acquisition to augment its own database offerings.
NISC databases include Family & Society Studies Worldwide, Gender Studies Database, Woman's Studies International and Wildlife & Ecology Studies Worldwide. Many of the databases acquired from NISC are already available on EBSCOhost and several others will soon migrate to that platform.
EBSCOhost, a search platform, is reportedly used as the primary research interface in tens of thousands of libraries around the world.
