EBSCO to co-sponsor librarian scholarship for DPER 2010 Diversity & Inclusion award winner -

Information services provider EBSCO, US, will co-sponsor a scholarship for the SLA Division of Petroleum and Energy Resources (DPER) 2010 Diversity & Inclusion award winner, Stephen Kizza. Kizza, solo librarian of the Resource Centre of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in Uganda, won the award for his motivation to build a better library and become a better librarian. He is also recognised for his outstanding work in making scientific information, specifically online resources, more easily available for Ugandan researchers.

The SLA (Special Libraries Association) DPER Diversity & Inclusion Award was established in 2009. It recognises information specialists for their specific achievement in improving knowledge and library access, and creating an environment in which diverse perspectives, values and contributions can be leveraged to achieve the best possible outcome around the world.

Through the sponsorship of this award, EBSCO is helping Kizza attend the SLA 2010 Conference in New Orleans, June 13-16, 2010, where he will be able to connect with information professionals from around the world. Kizza has been a member of SLA since 2007 and belongs to the Petroleum and Energy Resources Division courtesy of the DPER Board members.
