EIFL and Cambridge University Press (CUP) have renewed their agreement for an additional year, extending it through December 2027. The agreement continues to provide eligible EIFL partner countries with free or discounted access to CUP journals, as well as support for open access publishing.
Under the renewed arrangement, institutions in 13 EIFL partner countries will receive free access to 426 CUP journal titles: Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Kosovo, Laos, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, Senegal, Sudan, and Ukraine.
Institutions in six additional countries, namely Albania, Armenia, Kenya, North Macedonia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, will continue to receive discounted access to the same journal collection.
The agreement also includes waived article processing charges (APCs) for corresponding authors from 23 EIFL partner countries publishing in 262 Gold Open Access, 41 Research Open, and 158 Hybrid CUP journals. Eligible countries are Albania, Armenia, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, Kenya, Kosovo, Laos, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, North Macedonia, Palestine, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Corresponding authors from Botswana and Namibia remain eligible for a 50% APC discount when publishing open access articles in CUP journals.
In addition, the agreement offers transformative “read and publish” pricing for 12 EIFL partner countries. The model combines journal access with unlimited open access publishing in CUP’s Gold Open Access, Research Open, and Hybrid journals. Eligible countries include Botswana, Estonia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Namibia, North Macedonia, and Uzbekistan.
The renewed agreement is intended to support continued access to scholarly research resources while expanding opportunities for researchers in participating countries to publish their work openly.
