Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) has renewed its agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP) through December 2025, extending access to a range of academic journals and open access publishing benefits for researchers in developing and transition economy countries. The agreement, which includes free and discounted access to 419 journal titles, read & publish agreements, and reductions in Article Processing Charges (APCs), will continue to support research access and dissemination in 25 EIFL partner countries.
Under the renewed terms, researchers and institutions in 12 EIFL partner countries—including Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Kosovo, Laos, and others—will receive free or discounted access to CUP’s journals. An additional 13 partner countries, including Albania, Armenia, and Kenya, are also eligible for discounted access.
The agreement also offers discounted read & publish options for 10 EIFL partner countries, allowing authors to publish an unlimited number of articles in CUP's Gold open access and hybrid journals without incurring APCs. This includes Botswana, Fiji, Georgia, and several others, promoting open access publishing at no additional cost for affiliated researchers.
Moreover, corresponding authors from 24 EIFL partner countries, such as Ethiopia, Kenya, and Ukraine, can publish their research free of charge in CUP’s hybrid or Gold open access journals, further supporting the global research community in making scientific knowledge widely accessible. Authors from Botswana and Namibia can publish in CUP’s Gold open access journals with a 50% discount on APCs.
This renewed collaboration between EIFL and Cambridge University Press reinforces their commitment to reducing barriers in scholarly publishing, allowing researchers from diverse regions to share and access high-quality academic content.
