EIFL has renewed its agreement with OpenEdition for the OpenEdition Freemium collection of journals through December 2026. The renewal ensures that libraries in 28 eligible countries continue to receive free access to 184 journals, along with 17 additional titles provided as bonuses.
The collection spans the humanities, social sciences, and related fields, and includes journals published in French, English, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Titles are available in HTML, PDF, and ePub formats without digital rights management restrictions. More than 140 universities, publishers, learned societies, research organizations, and university presses contribute to the collection.
OpenEdition operates as a French public, nonprofit initiative supported by major research institutions, with a mission to promote and disseminate open scholarly communication in the humanities and social sciences. Eligible EIFL partner countries include Armenia, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, Ghana, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lesotho, North Macedonia, Malawi, Maldives, Moldova, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Palestine, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
